Isnad Center of Yemen's Comprehensive Humanitarian Operations (YCHO) announced Sunday that it has read the statement of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Yemen on the recent events in Hodeidah.
The Center said it also reviewed the statement issued by the Saudi-led Arab Coalition regarding the involvement of Houthi militias in targeting al-Thawra Hospital and the fish market in Hodeidah with mortar shells, leaving many civilians dead.
Isnad expressed sympathy and deep sorrow for the deaths of innocent civilians in Yemen, stressing the need to spare them the effects of the conflict in all Yemeni governorates.
It also called in a statement for full compliance with the provisions of international humanitarian law, stressing that Houthis have clearly violated the law through their recent attacks.
YCHO expressed its condolences to the families of the victims, confirming its continued efforts and maximum cooperation to assist the Yemeni people in coordination with the Yemeni government, coalition forces and humanitarian and relief organizations operating in Yemen.
The Saudi-led coalition launched a comprehensive humanitarian operations plan in Yemen on January 22, the statement said, through which Yemen's humanitarian response plan for 2018 was funded with $1.25 billion from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait.
The plan included the establishment of Isnad Center to coordinate humanitarian actions in Yemen, communicate and answer the questions and inquiries of humanitarian organizations working in the country and provide support to relief workers.
It also included a number of initiatives to improve the humanitarian situation in Yemen and to promote delivery and distribution of aid to cities and the Yemeni governorates, through a number of projects to improve roads and ports.
In this context, Saudi Arabia and the UAE launched five initiatives to support humanitarian efforts in line with the military operations in Hodeidah.
The Center affirmed its continued support for international humanitarian and relief efforts to alleviate the suffering of the brotherly Yemeni people.
