Isn't it good to be home? The beautiful sights you see when you fly back into Newcastle

Being on holiday is one of the finest things in life but isn't it lovely when you finally see home again?

Flying back over the North East and seeing our famous sights is one surefire way to feel like you're back on familiar ground.

Seeing our beautiful coastline from above is almost enough to make you forget about the sunny beaches you've left behind.

And don't get me started on that feeling when you finally see the Tyne Bridge again after a while away.

This footage was taken as a plane comes back over Blyth and St Mary's Island and the peaceful sea looks amazing.

St. Mary's Island, a small sandstone near to Whitley Bay, is home to St Mary's lighthouse which is now open to visitors.

You then see acres of green fields before you fly over the city itself.

Busy roads and hundreds of homes can then be seen before the plane eventually lands at Newcastle International Airport.

It's a familiar route for Geordie holidaymakers and probably leaves most thinking: "Isn't it good to be home?"

Newcastle International Airport is about 6.5 miles north west of the city centre and is the UK's 11th busiest airport.
