Ismaila Sarr injury latest: Crystal Palace update from Oliver Glasner ahead of Brighton derby

Crystal Palace are managing Ismaila Sarr’s minutes amid concerns over a hamstring injury.

The winger showed little signs of a fitness issue in the Conference League on Thursday, scoring twice in a 3-1 win over Dutch side AZ Alkmaar, before being withdrawn in the 65th minute to some surprise. Sarr had also earlier won a penalty, which Jean-Philippe Mateta saw saved.

Manager Oliver Glasner admitted after the game that Sarr was withdrawn earlier than expected in order to protect the player ahead of Sunday's clash against Brighton.

"[Sarr] mentioned [on Wednesday] a very, very small tightness in his hamstring. The doctor told me,” Glasner said.

“We have a game on Sunday as well, then he plays for Senegal, fortunately, here in London.

“Again, we have to manage the minutes. This is what we could do today."

Glasner also added that defender Chadi Riad, who this week returned to training after a serious knee injury, was absent from the matchday squad after suffering a reaction in his knee.

"[Riad] trained [on Wednesday], and then he slipped and he had a little bit of a reaction in his knee. And then I spoke to him, and he preferred to watch the game from the stand."
