Islington stabbing: Teenage boy ‘shot and stabbed at’ in north London

A teenager has been rushed to hospital after he was shot and stabbed at in broad daylight in north London, police said.

Emergency services raced to Pooles Park, Islington, at about 3.30pm on Saturday afternoon after receiving reports of a stabbing and shooting incident.

Officers said an 18-year-old boy was taken to hospital and has “potentially life-changing injuries”.

A 19-year-old boy was arrested at the scene on suspicion of grievous bodily harm, and is currently in custody, police said.

A spokeswoman for the Metropolitan Police said: “An 18-year-old man was found injured and taken to hospital for treatment, where his condition is deemed not life-threatening, but potentially life-changing.

“A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm, and is currently in custody.

“No firearm has been recovered to date. A crime scene is in place, and searches continue.

“A Section 60 has been put in place across the whole of the boroughs of Camden and Islington boroughs, from 16:00 today, to 07:00am tomorrow (Sun 9 June).”
