A man in his 20s has been shot dead near a children’s playground in north London.

An eyewitness described hearing six or seven gunshots before seeing someone on a moped speeding away from the scene.

“I ran to the window...when I looked out a guy was staggering, then fell,” he told The Independent.

Video footage shared on Twitter shows police and paramedics at the scene on the Westbourne Estate, in Islington.

The estate has been sealed off by police while they investigate.

“Despite their best efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
