Islington robbery: Young man rushed to hospital with slash wounds after suspected robbery on Seven Sisters Road

A man was shot by armed police last night

A man has been rushed to hospital after being attacked during a suspected robbery on Seven Sisters Road.

Officers were called just after 1pm on Wednesday to reports of a robbery in Islington, close to Finsbury Park Station.

A man in his 20s was found with slash wounds caused by a knife after he walked into the station to get help, according to the British Transport Police.

The man also told officers his phone had been stolen, the Met Police said.

The London Ambulance Service attended Finsbury Park Station with two medics in cars and an ambulance. An air ambulance was also dispatched, an LAS spokesman said.

The man was treated at the scene before he was taken to a major trauma centre.

A Met Police spokeswoman said: "We await an update on his condition, but it is not currently believed to be life threatening or changing.

"No arrests, enquiries continue."

Traffic has built up in the areas due to the police investigation with one of two lanes blocked eastbound on the Seven Sisters Road.

Congestion is slow eastbound with delays towards Hornsey Road, reports say.
