Police descended on a west London station this afternoon after gunshots were reportedly fired towards a vehicle.

Two groups of youths are thought to have been involved in a confrontation outside Isleworth station shortly before 3pm on Monday.

Shots were reportedly fired as one group attempted to drive away.

After the incident a large number of police officers descended on the scene and surrounding roads were cordoned off.

Trains did not stop at the station for several hours as an investigation was carried out.

The Met Police tweeted that a police dog located a knife as officers combed the scene for evidence.

A spokesman added: “Police were called at 2.54pm on Monday to a report of shots fired towards a vehicle near Isleworth railway station in London Road, Isleworth.

“No one is believed to have been injured.

“No arrests have been made and enquiries continue to establish the circumstances.”
