Isle of Skye rescue mission launched after man falls ill at Fairy Pools

A rescue mission was launched on the Isle of Skye yesterday after a man fell ill at the Fairy Pools.

Police and air ambulance were called to the Fairy Pools at around 1.15pm on Friday.

Coastguard officers also raced to the scene.

A spokesperson from HM Coastguard told the Record: "At around 1.15pm yesterday (19 July) HM Coastguard received a request for assistance from the Scottish Ambulance Service with a man who had fallen ill at the Cuillins mountains on the Isle of Skye.

"HM Coastguard search and rescue helicopter based at Stornoway was sent to the scene, where Scottish Ambulance service, Police Scotland and Skye Mountain Rescue Team were also on the scene.

"The casualty was transferred by helicopter to Skye Mountain Rescue team’s base."
