Alarming pictures have shown huge flames pouring into the sky as a wildfire took hold on a Scots island.
Fire crews were scrambled to the Keose area on the Isle of Lewis at around 1:45pm on Sunday, March 27.
Six fire engines were drafted in an attempt to bring the fierce blaze under control as it ripped through the area.
Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the blaze was a wildfire, which is understood to have lasted into Monday.
Locals watched on as smoke poured into the air as dramatic snaps show the extent of the inferno.
Julia Macleod shared alarming pictures of the fire on social media, taken from a safe distance, on Monday night.
Stornoway Airport also took to Twitter with dramatic images of the moor fires, as they raged near Achmore.
They revealed that the airport's fire service was called upon to help 'keep the fire at bay', while the coastguard was also drafted in.
A statement from the airport read: "the Airport Fire Service were tasked to assist Scottish Fire and Rescue Service in attempts to contain a moor fire near Achmore which has now been ablaze for a few days.
"HM Coastguard have also been assisting SFRS as all agencies continue to work together to keep the fire at bay."
Firefighters have confirmed that the blaze is 'under control', though there is still smoke in the area.
It's understood there were no casualties as a result of the fire.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: "Six fire appliances responded to a wildfire at 1:42pm on Sunday, March 27 in Keose, Isle of Lewis.
"There were no reported casualties. An officer confirmed the fire is now out."
