Isle of Bute prepares to welcome thousands of visitors as music festival returns

THE Isle of Bute is preparing to welcome thousands of festivalgoers this weekend for a festival featuring pop rock and folk artists.

ButeFest will feature performances from over 50 artists, including Scottish trad band Skerryvore (below) who will return to the festival for the first time since 2015.

Legendary Scottish rock band Big Country will also feature, as well as The LaFontaines and singer-songwriter Connor Fyfe.

He holds the record as the youngest ever artist to sell out Glasgow’s iconic King Tut’s.

An 80s theme is due to run throughout the weekend, with an 80s disco kicking off each night at 10pm and a fancy-dress parade on Saturday afternoon.

Chair of ButeFest Greg Pegg said: “We cannot wait to welcome the fantastic artists and all the festival goers to our island.

“ButeFest has proven itself to be a cultural cornerstone of the Scottish summer music festival calendar and we are raring to go for 2023.

“We are certain that our three Scottish headliners will get the party started here in Ettrick Bay.”

Entertainment for all ages will be available including circus acts, storytelling and shadow puppetry.

The festival also aims to promote up-and-coming and homegrown talent. Among the acts this year is Scottish TikTok sensation Littlest Chicken and his band Tuath who will showcase their unique rhythmic arrangements.

First established in 2015, ButeFest has tripled its attendance numbers in eight years and will see roughly 2000 visitors passing the gates to the island festival.

There are still a number of ticket options available and the full line-up of acts and activities can be found HERE.
