Isle of Arran coast named among top 10 UK summer road trip destinations

The Isle of Arran coast has been named among the top 10 UK summer road trip destinations for 2022.

The driving route on the Firth of Clyde island came in at 10th place on the list curated by global car comparison site EnjoyTravel.com and international travel brand Big 7 Travel.

They cherry-picked 25 of their favourite summer road trips in The UK just in time for the summer holidays, and included road trips which take folk by such sites as 'salty seaside towns, secluded Munros and medieval castles'.

Topping the list was the Causeway Coastal Route between Belfast and Giant’s Causeway, followed by the Atlantic Highway between Bath and Falmouth and Newcastle to Lindisfarne in third place.

About the Arran coastal route, the list noted: "Scotland isn’t short on spectacular driving routes, but if you’re short on time this route will give you a flavour of the whole country. Dubbed “Scotland in Miniature”, the Isle of Arran floats off the country’s west coast. During the summer, you can sunbathe on sheltered beaches and even take a dip in the sea.

"It’s busiest during this period, but it never feels too crowded. This slow and scenic drive takes in the best of the island’s sweeping coastlines, miniature harbours, waterfalls and castle ruins."
