Islanders lose lead, then fall in overtime to Ducks

The Islanders grabbed the lead in the third period, gave up the tying goal in the final 75 seconds and lost, 5-4, in overtime Thursday night at Barclays Center on Ducks defenseman Hampus Lindholm's third goal of the game.

Rickard Rakell swept home a rebound with 1:15 left and the Ducks net empty to tie the game.

Andrew Ladd snapped one past Ryan Miller at 7:52 of the third period to break a tie just 2:08 after John Tavares scored his second of the game pull the Isles even.

Jaroslav Halak made 35 saves and got feisty with Anaheim's Nick Ritchie in the second, throwing a gloved punch after Ritchie shoved Halak into the net following a whistle.

Josh Bailey had three assists to take over the NHL lead with 35 and Mathew Barzal had the other Islanders goal.
