Island storage and removals firm secures six-figure funding to buy mainland warehouse

Orkney storage and removals firm Advantage Storage Ltd (ASL) has bought a 1758 sq m unit in Inverness after securing a six-figure funding package.

ASL, owned by McAdie & Reeve Ltd , provides storage solutions to local businesses and a depot for its Orkney-based customers who make large purchases from the mainland.

Since acquiring ASL three years ago, directors Martin Drury and Alex Findlater have been operating the business from a rented unit on Seafield Road in Inverness.

Director Drury said: “We are really excited to have a permanent base for the company as we see a rise in demand for depot and transportation services from our customers in Orkney. We’re also confident that the additional space will attract local businesses who require storage solutions as we continue to strengthen our presence in Inverness.

“We are grateful to Royal Bank of Scotland for the level of support it offered throughout the transaction which helped us reach an important milestone for the business.”

Margaret Keenan, senior relationship manager at Royal Bank of Scotland, said: “Helping Martin and Alex achieve their goal has been extremely rewarding for the team and we look forward to seeing the business develop from its new premises.

“Not only is this good news for ASL, it’s also good news for the Orkney community and its businesses, helping to remove barriers that customers can sometimes face when making larger purchases from the mainland.”
