Islamist rebel fighter killed by air strike in the middle of filming video

A video has emerged online showing the moment an Islamist rebel fighter and his cameraman were killed by a Syrian Arab Army artillery shell.

The video, which we have chosen not to publish, begins with the fighter, believed to be fighting for Ajnad al-Sham, talking to the camera about his joy of capturing the Tal Sukayk region in Syria.

The fighter looks behind him immediately before the strike hits
A bright flash fills the screen before the camera turns black

He then briefly turns to look behind him before a massive flash is seen on screen and the camera turns to black.

Loud crying can then be heard as the camera continues to record.

The fighter is believed to have been part of the Ajnad al-Sham group, which makes up a three faction alliance with al-Qaeda affiliated Jabhat al-Nusra and Ahrar al-Sham, according to the Dail Mail

The camera man was named as Ahmed Abu Hamza, a media activist from Hama who was previously employed by the University of Damascus.

The Sun initially reported that the two men were fighting for Isis, and that a French bomb had killed them, however the pair have now been confirmed as Ajnad al-Sham members.
