The ISIS terrorist group vowed Sunday to intensify its fight against the US-led coalition and its Kurdish allies in eastern Syria.
In the second such threat since its collapse in March, the group said: "The fire of the battle between us and them has been reignited and will intensify,” addressing its “soldiers” in Syria’s Raqqa, Damascus, Idlib and other regions.
In a video posted on its Telegram channel, ISIS also accused coalition countries of deceiving its local adversaries, including the Kurds.
"They have been thrown into the flames of a fierce war that will leave them without tail or head," ISIS said.
The video includes decapitations and the shooting to death at close range of people presented as kidnapped Kurdish fighters.
The terrorist group had released a video in late April - shortly after claiming deadly attacks in Sri Lanka - in which leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi purportedly appeared, pledging vengeance and a "long battle" ahead.
In the past months, ISIS launched a series of attacks that mainly targeted Kurdish forces in its former strongholds in north and northeastern Syria.
The US-backed, Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces announced it had expelled the extremists from their last patch of territory in eastern Syria, the town of Baghouz, on March 23.
That came after a months-long campaign backed by coalition airstrikes.
But despite losing their territory, ISIS fighters continue to launch regular attacks across war-torn Syria.
A US Defense Department report said this month that ISIS was "resurging" in Syria, while it had "solidified its insurgent capabilities in Iraq.”
The US-led coalition has said it is backing the SDF in northeastern Syria against thousands of remaining ISIS loyalists.
