ISIS terrorists have been killed by an RAF bombing raid over northern Iraq.
A pair of 1,500mph Typhoon jets targeted the extremists as a Reaper drone kept watch, it was revealed yesterday.
The planes are based at RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus as part of Operation Shader, the codename for the war on IS.
On April 10, pilots flying jets on spying missions “identified terrorists occupying a group of fortified buildings in an isolated location west of Tuz Khurma”, the MoD said.
“The aircraft conducted a thorough check of the area for non-combatants, before using a combination of precision guided bombs to destroy the buildings. All of the weapons struck their targets, there was no collateral damage.”
Defence Secretary Ben Wallace said that despite the Covid-19 outbreak “the UK’s defence never sleeps and will always do what is necessary to protect our people”.
