Isis militants have released an extended propaganda video claiming to show one of their jihadists killing his own brother for attempting to defect.
The 15-minute clip posted on Twitter shows two men being led out into a fenced compound to be shot, as part of the terrorist group’s clampdown on alleged spying within its ranks in Iraq.
The killer, a man named Abu Abdallah, says a prayer in Arabic before shooting one of the blindfolded men in the head.
Abdallah claims the prisoner was his sibling, although this remains unconfirmed according to ABNA News.
The other man was shot dead at the same time.
It is difficult to confirm where or when precisely the killings took place but the video was released on Sunday morning.
Isis leaders are said to have grown wary of potential spying activity and defections after losing several of its senior members to airstrikes over the past few months.
In January Ali Saqr al-Qasem, a 20-year-old militant, reportedly shot his mother Lena in the head in public after accusing her of apostasy.
Ms al-Qasem was found guilty of trying to persuade her son to abandon Isis and flee Syria with her.
It is not known why her son was given the task of killing his own mother and the execution took place outside Raqqa’s post office, where Ms al-Qasem worked.
Last month 38 Isis fighters were allegedly killed in acid vats during a purge of suspected spies in Mosul, according to the Sun.
The bodies of executed defectors are displayed in public as a warning to those tempted to leave the terrorist collective.
