ISIS claims responsibility for Streatham terrorist who stabbed shoppers at random

ISIS has claimed that the convicted terrorist who stabbed two people in Streatham yesterday was one of its "soldiers".

A statement released by the terror organisation's propaganda network Amaq claimed that Sudesh Amman was acting on its behalf.

The 20-year-old stabbed two people on a south London street yesterday before undercover police officers shot and killed him.

A third person was injured by glass broken by police gunfire.

All three are expected to recover.

It is unclear how ISIS would have been in contact with Amman, who was released halfway through his three year and four month sentence six weeks ago.

He had been monitored by undercover police officers since then.

It is possible that ISIS are claiming a link to Sudesh because of the 20-year-old's known affinity for the terror group.

During his trial at the Old Bailey it was revealed he was part of a family WhatsApp group in which his siblings were pictured posing in positions associated with ISIS.

The ISIS statement read: "The operation was carried out by one of the #Daesh fighters in response to our calls to target citizens of countries belonging to the (international) coalition"

In the wake of the London Bridge stabbings in November last year, ISIS also claimed that perpetrator Usman Khan was one of its fighters.

It offered no evidence that the 28-year-old was acting on its behalf however.

Three victims were taken by ambulance to south London hospital following the attack yesterday.

One man, in his 40s, is no longer considered to be in a life-threatening condition following treatment, police said.

A woman, in her 50s, who had non-life threatening injuries has been discharged from hospital.

Another woman in her 20s had minor injuries believed to have been caused by glass following the police gun shots.
