ISIS bride Shamima Begum claims she was 'brainwashed' and wants 'second chance'

Shamima Begum has revealed she "regrets everything" including having children in Syria.

The ISIS bride says she regrets everything she did and wants to head back to the UK for a fresh start after claiming she was brainwashed by Islamic State militants, Hull Live reports.

The claims follow an eye-opening interview with The Times newspaper where she said she "knew little about Islam" before fleeing her home in Bethnal Green, east London.

Speaking for the first time since the death of her son Jarrah, Shamima told The Times: "Since I left Baghuz I really regretted everything I did, and I feel like I want to go back to the UK for a second chance to start my life over again .

"I was brainwashed. I came here believing everything that I had been told, while knowing little about the truths of my religion."

She added: "I do regret having children in the caliphate."

The 19-year-old had hoped to raise her third child in the UK before the newborn's death on March 8.

The teenager reportedly said she had thought the caliphate would have been a place to safely raise kids, but now she knows it was not a place for a family.

Shamima, whose first two children also died, still hopes she will one day return to the UK.

She left Britain with two other schoolgirls to join the ISIS terror group in February 2015.

Her case has proved incredibly controversial since she announced she would like to return to the UK , with Home Secretary Sajid Javid revoking her UK citizenship.
