
The Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) held a meeting with the Space Foundation USA to define a framework of action and discuss plans for the implementation of future cooperation programs and activities between the two parties in space sciences and related industries.
ICESCO was represented at the meeting, which was held by videoconference on Friday, by Dr. Mohamad Sharif, Advisor to the Science and Technology Sector, and Dr. Foued El Ayni, Expert in the Sector, while the Foundation was represented by Shelli Brunswick, Chief Operating Officer, and Ron Sparkman, Digital Engagement Strategist.
During the meeting, both parties have discussed partnership in holding an international symposium on the introduction of space science and technology in the ICESCO Member States, highlighting the importance, challenges and opportunities of the field for science, technology and innovation.
The international symposium will see the participation of agencies, astronauts and specialists in space technology, to discuss the importance of the field in strengthening communication infrastructure, disaster management, education improvement, environmental protection, agriculture development and natural resource management.
The event will also discuss the role of space technology in the development of science, technology, engineering and mathematics programs, in addition to capacity building and individual skill development.
At the end of the meeting, both parties agreed to coordinate to promote cooperation between them.
