Isaiah Thomas on Celtics’ tribute video: ‘That was everything’

Isaiah Thomas’ return to Boston on Monday was a unique night for the point guard. Not only were his Denver Nuggets the winners in a 114-105 over the Celtics, Thomas also received a warm welcome from the Boston fanbase that accepted him back in 2014-15 when Danny Ainge acquired him in a trade from the Phoenix Suns.

The Celtics also put together a video for their former point guard. The team aired it on the jumbotron at the TD Garden during a timeout in the first quarter:

Thomas appeared emotional, which he explained was the case to reporters after the game.

Yeah, that was big, that was special. I wish my family was here to see that, but they watched it. I was emotional I almost cried. That was everything. I appreciate them for doing that, it meant a lot.

Thomas was also asked about seeing his former teammates on the other side of the ball. He singled out Jaylen Brown.

Well, it was me and Jaylen because he thought he could guard me, he always thought he could guard me. I told him I need like six hands around me. I need three people to guard me. It was fun those guys are brothers to me; those guys are always and will always be family. This whole organization, the coaching staff, everybody that I was here for those three years is always going to be family and is special in my heart.
