Isaiah Roby is in a walking boot on the bench. That’s preventative, Daigneault said.

When the Fox Sports Oklahoma broadcast pans to the Oklahoma City Thunder bench against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday night, viewers will likely see Isaiah Roby in a walking boot.

The Thunder big is out with foot soreness. Head coach Mark Daigneault said before the game that the walking boot is more for preventative purposes than anything serious.

“That’s preventative. It’s not an indicator of a more serious issue,” Daigneault said. “It’s more just how to get him back as quickly as possible with as little setbacks as possible. That’s not a serious one.”

Roby told Daigneault he didn’t couldn’t pinpoint how or when the soreness began, so it doesn’t appear to be from an individual play during the game on Friday.

“I think it was more wear-and-tear stuff,” Daigneault said, referring to both Roby and Darius Bazley, who was questionable before the game with back soreness.

Oklahoma City had a quick turnaround from its Friday night game also against the Timberwolves. Roby played 33 minutes, a career-high, and has now played in 16 games in a row. As a rookie, he appeared in three NBA games.

Roby is averaging 8.6 points and 4.7 rebounds over 10.1 minutes of play in 18 games, eight of which have been starts.
