Isaac Hayden knows just how bad his miss against Bournemouth was

Newcastle United left the South Coast as 4-1 winners as they breezed past Bouremouth - although Isaac Hayden should have added a fifth.

Thankfully, his side foot into the stands from all of five yards didn't matter in the end but the result and jovial mood of Newcastle fans means that Hayden is likely to be reminded, kindly, of the sitter for a long time to come.

Fans on Twitter described the effort from the midfielder as the 'worst miss of the season' or jokingly suggested that he be 'fined' for booting it wide of a gaping goal.

Hayden can see the funny the side.

Taking to Twitter to thank fans for their support, and praise his teammates for their efforts - he referenced the miss.

"Unreal performance from the lads," he posted. "[It was the] miss of the century from myself, the focus is now on climbing the table and putting in more top performances for you to watch at home.

"Thanks for your continued support."

The win for Newcastle leaves Steve Bruce's side three points off the top ten and only 10 from fifth.
