Skillful Mexican winger Isaac Brizuela has opened up on his desperate attempts to force through a move to Celtic in 2014.
The fleet-footed Chivas attacker made a splash with performances for his nation at the Brazil World Cup and emerged on the Hoops transfer radar.
After the tournament, new Hoops boss Ronny Deila was attempting to build a new squad after his shock appointment as Parkhead manager.
Brizuela was then playing for Toluca and Celtic made an official offer to sign the then-22-year-old.
But his club couldn't believe how low the offer was, according to Brizuela, who went on to win 14 caps for his country.
He said: "I had just returned from the World Cup in Brazil and I was about to leave Toluca.
"My agent showed me the email sent to the club from Celtic. But the problem was the offer was so poor that they wouldn't even consider it.
"I tried in vain to persuade them to negotiate with Celtic so an agreement could be reached. I tried to convince them, but in the end the clubs couldn't reach an agreement. I signed for Chivas instead.
"I regard that as a real regret because I would have loved to have played for them and tried myself in Europe."
