As a result of urban development, gentrification, or changes in council policy – not to mention the impact of big superstores and online shopping – food and goods markets in towns and cities across the UK are in danger of disappearing.

Are we seeing the decline of a much-loved part of urban life? Are long-standing affordable street markets being replaced with something more exclusive and expensive – or even blocks of luxury flats? Wherever you are in the UK, we’d love to hear your thoughts about local markets you think are in decline or under threat. Share your photographs and stories with GuardianWitness, and we’ll feature a selection on Guardian Cities.
