Twitter users are being greeted with a “Welcome to Twitter” message in place of their timelines on Wednesday morning.
Instead of seeing the latest tweets from people they follow, Twitter users only see the following message: “Welcome to Twitter! This is the best place to see what’s happening in your world. Find some people and topics to follow now.”
A Let’s Go button invites users to find accounts to follow, while both the For You and Following timelines are empty.
However, the Explore function and search functions appear to be working normally, as do the messaging and notification features.
The problem appears to be widespread with more than 250,000 tweets about the “Welcome to Twitter” message. #TwitterDown is also trending.
Around 5,000 people reported Twitter issues on Down Detector.
At the time of writing, Twitter has not acknowledged the problem. We will update this article when we receive an update.
