Several reports are circulating online about the White House considering the firing of FBI Director Kash Patel. But is there any truth to the claim? Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has spoken up.
Kash Patel has been embroiled in controversies ever since he took office as the FBI director under President Donald Trump. From using FBI resources for his girlfriend to mishandling the Epstein Files, his work history is marred by flaws. Yet, the unflattering headlines about Kash Patel have never alarmed the White House. But have they finally had enough?
On Monday, Nov. 25, several reports surfaced, alleging that Patel might soon be relieved from his position. Rumors went around that Trump plans to replace him with the current co-deputy director, Andrew Bailey. It came off as a relief for most Americans tired of his incompetence. But the MAGA crowd was shocked, as Trump has always been steadfast in his support for Patel.
Karoline Leavitt calls the rumor “fake news”
The White House Press Secretary, Karoline Leavitt, soon caught a whiff of the rumor and dismissed it. She took to her X on Nov. 26, and called the story “completely made up.” She attached a photo of Trump and Patel at the White House to her post, and wrote:
I read the headline to the President and he laughed. He said: “What? That’s totally false. Come on Kash, let’s take a picture to show them you’re doing a great job!”
Leavitt revealed that when the news was published, she was in the Oval Office with the two of them. “President Trump was meeting with his law enforcement team, including FBI Director Kash Patel,” she explained.
Trump says Kash Patel is doing a great job
The news was first reported by MS Now, which cited three anonymous people as sources. They wrote:
Trump and White House aides have confided to allies that the president is eyeing removing Patel and is considering top FBI official Andrew Bailey as the bureau’s new director, according to the three people.
However, the outlet also added that White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson has already responded to dismiss the claim. “FBI Director Patel is a critical member of the President’s team,” she told MS Now. But the story spiraled out of context and went viral on social media.
When a reporter aboard Air Force One asked President Trump about the rumor, he also confidently denied it. “No, he’s doing a good job. Kash Patel? He’s doing a great job, I think,” he told the reporter. Although disappointing, it’s not surprising that Trump wants to keep Patel at the job. He has proved himself to be the perfect pawn for the White House, always obeying their whims.
