Is this your pigeon? SSPCA trying to trace owner of baffled bird left behind on Edinburgh bus

An appeal has been launched to try and reunite an Edinburgh pigeon with its owner after he was left behind on the bus.

The Scottish SPCA have asked the public to help them after the bird was found on a Stagecoach bus heading from Edinburgh to Dumfries on November 11.

After being left behind on the 17.20 service, the pigeon was discovered inside a homemade wooden box when the bus eventually pulled into Dumfries a while later.

The animal is now in the care of the SSPCA, as they look to reunite the bird with its owner in what they hope was an accidental incident.

Scottish SPCA animal rescue officer Sheena MacTaggart said “The pigeon, which has distinctive white and brown plumage, was discovered in a homemade wooden box with a blue handle.

“Unfortunately the bird doesn’t have any rings we could use to identify an owner.

“We’re hoping that this is just a case of someone being a bit forgetful, rather than anything intentional, and we can reunite this pigeon with the rightful owner as soon as possible.

“In the meantime, the bird will be cared for at one of our animal rescue and rehoming centres.

“If anyone recognises this pigeon, please contact our confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999.
