Is this your budgie? Local feathery friend is found in Leith park with no owner

Appeals have surfaced online to find the owner of a lost budgie that was found out and about in the city yesterday.

The bird, who has light yellow and blue feathers, was found in Leith Links on Thursday.

A local resident posted in multiple Facebook groups around the city to ask if anyone had lost their feathery friend or knew someone who had, stating:

"Has anybody lost their pet budgie?

"Found this wee guy in Leith Links

"RSPCA have been called and will pick him up but said to try and find an owner if we can....

"(He is currently in our flat to be kept safe)."

The posts have since been shared multiple times, with hundreds of users sharing and commenting in an attempt to get the bird back where it belongs.

Many commented on the beautiful and bright and distinct colours of the budgie's feathers, with one user commenting "he is stunning, I would add him to my flock of six in a heartbeat."

Since the initial appeal, the resident who found the bird stated that it has now been taken into the care of the SSPCA, who are still attempting to reach the owner.

If you are the owner or if you want to inquire about fostering stray birds/pets you can contact the SSPCA on 03000999999
