Is this the worst bus shelter in Belfast?

There have been calls to replace a delapitated bus shelter in East Belfast which could be one of the worst in the city.

The bus shelter on Inverary Drive, across the road from Sydenham Train Station needs to be replaced according to local residents who say that it has been there for more than a generation.

It has been covered with graffiti and residents feel that it makes the area look old and dated.

DUP councillor George Dorrian says that he has been contacted by people living in the area who are calling for it to be replaced and that he has written to the Department of Infrastructure to see when it will be.

He said: "Many residents have highlighted this bus stop to me as needing replaced. It is old, it is dated and I’m told there is more than one generation of graffiti on it. I understand it is on a long list for replacement but it is a good example of how we need to get the little things right if we are to create communities which are pleasant and attractive to live in.

"Things like this, the weeds on our streets and graffiti matter to people and all those agencies responsible need to come to come together and be more proactive rather than seemingly always playing catch up.

"We talk of change, recovery and renewal after Covid. This must include our community spaces as well as our town centres”.

The Department for Infrastructure has been contacted for comment.
