It's time to move on from Litchfield.
Belove Netflix prison drama Orange Is The New Black has finally come to its end with its emotional seventh season.
The new batch of episodes sees the ladies of Litchfield prison face new struggles as Taystee (Danielle Brooks) copes with an unjust prison sentence, Red ( Kate Mulgrew ) copes with early on-set dementia, and Alex ( Laura Prepon ) deals with being parted from her "wife" Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling).
Piper, meanwhile, feels freedom for the first time in a long while.
But why did the show end here and why isn't there a season 8?
Why Orange Is The New Black ended with season 7

The decision to end the next Netflix prison drama series rested with series showrunner Jenji Kohan, who previously worked on the drama series Weeds.
Kohan said in a statement upon the series' end announcement: "After seven seasons, it’s time to be released from prison. I will miss all the badass ladies of Litchfield and the incredible crew we’ve worked with. My heart is orange but fade to black."
That doesn't mean ending the series on a creative high was easy for Kohan, however.
She told Vanity Fair: "I think we’ll miss our soapbox, and our ability to engender empathy through these characters, and reach audiences that wouldn’t ordinarily spend time with people like this. That’s a really hard thing to give up."
Orange Is The New Black season 7 is available on Netflix now.
