With the referendum vote on Thursday, all eyes are focused on Scotland but how does the rest of the UK feel about Westminster politics? In a new four-part series titled Britain’s in trouble, John Harris travels around the UK to find out. In the first film, he visits Ukip’s eastern heartlands where he finds poverty, anger and the breakdown of normal politics. In the second film he travels through the post-industrial belt of south Wales, and samples the quiet decline of Labour’s century-long dominance. The third film examines how the referendum vote has ignited political participation in Scotland.
We’d like to find out how you feel about politics where you are. Do you feel fairly represented by Westminster, or are you concerned that government and parliament are too London-centric? Perhaps you feel the main political parties are still relevant or are you better represented by others. Would you like to see political power based more locally? Are there other political changes you would like to see, and if so, what are they?
