Chinese phone maker OnePlus is one of the first smartphone brands which raised the bar for mid-range smartphones. Devices like the OnePlus One and OnePlus 2, and now the OnePlus 3, are popularly referred to as flagship killers as they deliver a high-end flagship like experience at a much lower price. This element of offering the latest and the best at a lower price became the unique selling point of their phones, which is why the launch of the small screen OnePlus X in November 2015 baffled us. The OnePlus X was not good enough to be called a flagship killer.
At the time of writing this, a post in one of its forums suggests the phone maker is quietly phasing it out. A user going by the name of Hailtotheking on the OnePlus forum got a reply from the OnePlus team when he ordered the phone. In the screenshot of the mail the user received, it can be clearly seen that the phone is out of stock currently, OnePlus has no plans to make fresher units available and that the user will get the refund for the order.
In India, the phone is sold exclusively on Amazon.in. There are two versions, the glass back Onyx which is selling at Rs.14,999 and the ceramic back version which costs Rs. 22,999. While the Onyx version is not available anymore, the Ceramic version is still available for purchase at this time. The OnePlus X was powered by a Qulacomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor with 3GB RAM and ran Android 5.1 with Oxygen OS. It offered a 5-inch display with 1920x1080p resolution and had a 13-megapixel camera.
In case you were planning to buy the OnePlus X, it may perhaps be time to consider some alternatives.
