It is the centrepiece of a big three-day Aintree Festival in Liverpool.

But when is it? How can you watch it?

Here's what you need to know:

What makes it so special?

The Grand National has been run since 1839 and is the longest National Hunt race in the UK (4miles, 514 yards). It’s also regarded as one of the toughest to win, with 30 fences over two laps and some of the highest obstacles to clear, testing both horse and jockey.

What TV channel will the Grand National 2019 be on?

For the third consecutive year, the Grand National will be on ITV. Coverage will be available throughout the day of the Festival leading to the famous race.

Who are this year’s favourites?

Tiger Roll is the big favourite for this year's race. Gordon Elliott’s superstar horse is bidding to become the first horse to win back-to-back Grand Nationals since the legendary Red Rum in the 1970s.

He’s already won back-to-back Cross Country’s at Cheltenham and could be the shortest price winning favourite since Poethlyn triumphed at 11/4 exactly 100 years ago.

What is the other betting?

Here are some of the favourites, from McLean Bookmakers:

What are the conditions going to be like?

Saturday is looking like being an overcast day, with a high of around 11C. There's only a 10 per cent chance of rain.

Here are the current conditons at Aintree:

Mildmay Course - Good to soft  (from good)

Hurdle Course - Good to soft  (from good)
