Is the Chelsea vs Aston Villa Carabao Cup match on TV with channel, live stream and team news

Chelsea host Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.

The match comes following a string of impressive performances by the Blues, including their most recent game against Spurs.

N’Golo Kante inspired Chelsea to a statement 3-0 win at Tottenham after coming on at half-time during their weekend match.

After being unhappy with what he saw in the first half in north London, coach Thomas Tuchel sent on Kante at the break and it paid immediate dividends as Chelsea scored two goals in the opening 12 minutes of the second half.

Kante scored the second, after Thiago Silva’s opener, and Antonio Rudiger added a third in injury-time as Chelsea ended the weekend on top of the Premier League.

Focus now turns to whether the Blues can mount a cup run as they play in the Carabao Cup third round on Wednesday.

Here's everything you need to know ahead of the game.

How to watch Chelsea vs Aston Villa on UK TV

Manchester United's match against West Ham has been chosen to be shown live on Sky Sports on Wednesday night.

That means Chelsea supporters will have to wait to see the highlights of the game, with Carabao Cup on Quest due to be aired on Wednesday, September 22 at 10.30pm.

Highlights will also be free to watch on Discovery+.

Team news for Chelsea vs Aston Villa

Edouard Mendy will miss Chelsea’s Carabao Cup clash with Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge.

The Senegal goalkeeper is still battling a hip complaint, and will face a race against time to be fit for Saturday’s Premier League encounter with Manchester City.

Christian Pulisic will also be a doubt as the USA forward continues to shake off an ankle issue.

Emi Buendia could return for Aston Villa’s trip to Stamford Bridge.

The record signing was an unused substitute in the 3-0 win over Everton after only returning from Croatia hours before, where he had been training with Emi Martinez to avoid quarantining following international duty with Argentina.

John McGinn is likely to miss out after coming off against the Toffees with a concussion with Leon Bailey unlikely to be risked after a quad injury while Trezeguet (knee) is a long-term absentee.
