Is the A4 Portway still closed after serious crash at Sea Mills in Bristol?

A two-mile stretch of the A4 Portway remains closed after a serious collision involving a HGV and a motorbike near Sea Mills.

The collision happened at around 5.53am on Thursday and an extended road closure is in place from the A4162 Sylvan Way at Sea Mills to the A4176 at Bridge Valley Road, Clifton Downs.

Congestion has been building in roads in the area following the collision on the southbound side of the road.

There is no exact time as to when the road will reopen as emergency services remain on the scene as their investigations continue.

There has also been no injury update as of 11.45am.

Emergency services have urged people to avoid the area. The road is also closed to pedestrians.

The full traffic update from Inrix reads: "A4 Portway in both directions closed, queueing traffic due to accident, a lorry and a motorcycle involved from A4162 Sylvan Way (Sea Mills) to A4176 Bridge Valley Road (Clifton Downs, Bristol). Congestion to Abbots Leigh, Ashton, Clifton Down and all surrounding routes through Bristol as traffic diverts.

"Closed in both directions following an accident that happened on the southbound side of the road. The closure is expected to remain in place for some time. Affecting traffic between Bristol and Avonmouth."
