Is that the end for Joao Carvalho at Nottingham Forest?

Has Joao Carvalho played his final game for Nottingham Forest?

Some supporters certainly think so, after the Reds’ record £13m signing was left out of Sabri Lamouchi’s matchday squad altogether for Wednesday night’s City Ground clash with Swansea City.

Carvalho has managed just 17 minutes of action since the Championship campaign restarted last month, being a regular on the bench.

The Portuguese star failed to make that on Wednesday, as Forest went in search of three points which would secure their play-off place, and fans were quick to register their thoughts.

Talk has resurfaced in recent weeks that Carvalho could be set for a move to Greece where he would link up with Olympiacos, owned by Evangelos Marinakis.

And being left out of such a crucial fixture is unlikely to dampen any speculation that the 23-year-old is set for a move away from Forest later in the summer.

Elsewhere in Lamouchi’s starting XI for the visit of their play-off rivals, Tobias Figueiredo was drafted back into the side at the expense of veteran Michael Dawson, while there was a place on the bench for John Bostock at the expense of Carvalho.
