Chelsea are not able to make any summer signings.
A two-window transfer ban imposed by FIFA means new head coach Frank Lampard must work with what he's got already in the squad for the 2019/20 season.
One of those in the squad will be Mateo Kovacic though, who is, effectively a new signing.
The Croatian was on loan at Stamford Bridge for the entirety of last season, and because there was an option to make the deal permanent this summer, he was not technically a newly-registered player, so his £40million move from Real Madrid was ratified.
Kovacic did not exactly set the world alight during his first Premier League campaign, failing to score a single Premier League goal and registering just two assists.
However, could he be a reformed character under Lampard?
With a season under his belt and now adapted to life in England, Kovacic will be hoping to kick on and show the Chelsea faithful what he is capable of during 2019/20.
And he has already got the fanbase excited, if the videos of the Blues in pre-season training are anything to go by.
A number of training videos have been released by the media team at Chelsea, showing the camaraderie between the players, and one posted on the club's official Twitter page on Saturday showed four overhead kicks - two during a game of football tennis, and two being scored from crosses, with Kovacic being the one to score.
Chelsea fans were delighted.
