Just when we thought Ted Lasso had blown his final whistle, it seems the game might be going into extra time, with season four of the feel-good AppleTV+ series officially on the horizon.
Ted Lasso star Jason Sudeikis confirmed the new instalment last March, and in the time since, we’ve been drip-fed a bunch of morsels as to when, where and how he’ll be returning to the pitch.

So between just-released stills from the show to casting changes, trailers and now an official release window, what can we expect from Ted Lasso season four? Play on below (*blows whistle*).

When did Ted Lasso Season 4 rumours start?
It all started when Juno Temple, aka the fabulous Keeley Jones, dropped a bombshell that’s got fans more excited than Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein) at a yoga class.

In a February 2025 chat with Entertainment Weekly, Juno dropped this little nugget: “It sounds like there might be a season four. I don’t know when. I don’t know exactly who, what, why, where, but I think it sounds like those cogs are turning.”
Nate Shelley, played by Nick Mohammed, had also been stirring the pot. In a video on X, Nick apologised for moving his upcoming tour dates due to “some filming”. He couldn’t say what it was for, but he did wave around a “BELIEVE” sign.
“I know there’ll be speculation as to why you’ve moved these dates,” Nick teased in the video.
“I’ll be honest, it is for some filming.” He then added, “it will be announced shortly”, while urging people not to speculate. Yeah, right.
Even the big wigs were getting in on the action. Warner Bros. TV boss Channing Dungey spilled some tea to Variety back in October 2024, saying, “We are in conversations about season four, and they are very exciting conversations, but it’s still early days.”
9To5Mac also reported that the Magic Rays of Light podcast (an AppleTV+ focused podcast) revealed a potential production start date, and also claimed that season four had been publicly listed on the Film & Television Industry Alliance’s website.
What is the plot for Ted Lasso Season 4?
Season four of Ted Lasso will pick up right where season three wrapped. According to the official season four description, Ted is returning to Richmond after his trip back to Kansas, but this time around, he’s going to be coaching a second division women’s football team.
The official synopsis released by AppleTV reads: “In season four, Ted returns to Richmond, taking on his biggest challenge yet: coaching a second division women’s football team… Throughout the course of the season, Ted and the team learn to leap before they look, taking chances they never thought they would.”
Vague? Sure. But am I seated? Yep!

With so many returning characters and beloved storylines, we’re sure to be in for a treat.
What has been the reaction to the Ted Lasso Season 4 news?
While you’d think everyone would be jumping for joy to have something so wholesome come back to our screens, not all Ted Lasso fans are thrilled at the new plot plans.
“Should have ended the show instead of a new team and we know this will end up woke,” said one X user.
“Please don’t make a Ted Lasso season four with just you coaching a women’s team,” another user commented.
“It just won’t be the same. I’d rather see a AFC Richmond spin off without you than this.”
All I have to say is WOMP WOMP. The blatant sexism really do be showing.
But don’t worry, others who love joy are ecstatic about the news. “YES! I’ve missed Ted and his positivity. This is what the world needs,” wrote one X user.
“I need season four like yesterday!!!! Hopefully we get back a lot of familiar faces,” said another.
Who is in the cast of Ted Lasso Season 4?
Sudeikis will of course be returning as the titular soccer coach, and he’ll be joined by fellow fan favourites and original cast members Hannah Waddingham as Rebecca Welton and Brett Goldstein as Roy Kent.
Other familiar faves like Temple (Keeley Jones) and Mohammed (Nathan Shelley) are also back on board, as well as Brendan Hunt (Coach Beard), Cristo Fernández (Dani Rojas) and Toheeb Jimoh (Sam Obisanya).
In a slight cast shake-up, it was revealed that the original actor who played Ted’s son Henry, Gus Turner, was replaced by newcomer Grant Feely, since the show reportedly needed a kid with serious soccer skills in the role.
There are also a bunch of new cast members joining the team, including Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey and Abbie Hern. Details about the characters those actors will play are being kept under wraps.
Is there a trailer for Ted Lasso Season 4?
Not as such. We got an ever-so-brief clip last July when AppleTV announced that season four was in production — featuring Rebecca, Ted and Keeley eating in a diner — but beyond that, preview morsels have been scarce.
However, we did cop a bunch of first-look images in January, 2026. There’s only four snaps — including pics of Ted on the pitch and in front of an aeroplane with Rebecca — but it’s just enough to re-introduce us to the Lasso-verse. Feast your eyes below.

Is there a release date for Ted Lasso Season 4?
Alongside the first-look snaps, AppleTV+ also gifted us with an official release window for Ted Lasso season four, confirming it will drop sometime in the summer in the US.
For those of us Down Under, that means the new batch of episodes will arrive between June to August of this year.
That’s more than enough time to catch up with the last three seasons of Ted Lasso before the new one airs. You can do so at your leisure on AppleTV+.
