Temperatures are set to drop as the month of October continues, but is snow on the way to Ireland?
With a forecast of heavy rain and strong gales, the first of the season's snowfall is expected to spread across Britain as temperatures plunge.
However, things don’t look quite as bad for Ireland as temperatures are set to remain reasonably high for this time of year.
Here is a look at what the weather will bring this weekend:
Saturday, October 16
Mostly cloudy and misty weather is expected on Saturday morning, with patchy rain and drizzle spreading across the country.
Further outbreaks of rain will develop in the west from late morning and will edge slowly eastwards in the afternoon through to evening.
Temperatures will remain reasonable at 12 to 15 degrees Celsius, with a light southerly breeze.
Sunday, October 17
A mild and mostly cloudy day is expected on Sunday, with a few spots of patchy light rain and drizzle.
However, things will clear up with mostly dry weather predicted throughout the day.
Temperatures will range from 15 to 16 degrees, with a light to moderate southwest wind.
Sunday night is set to take a turn with wet and breezy conditions spreading southwest to all areas.
South-easterly winds will increase with lowest temperatures of 11 to 13 degrees.
Monday, October 18
Outbreaks of heavy rain are expected early in the day, with breezy and mostly cloudy conditions set to remain across the country.
However, it will remain moderately mild for this time of the year, with temperatures of 15 to 17 degrees.
Cool turn
Unsettled weather will remain throughout the rest of the week, with outbreaks of rain forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday.
It will turn cooler later in the week, with frosts developing at night and daytime highs of just 9 or 10 degrees.
