Is sickness a symptom of Covid? The full list of symptoms most commonly reported

Days are starting to shorten and the temperature is starting to drop, meaning winter colds and sniffles are on the way.

Unlike last winter, almost 70% of Wales are now double vaccinated, however, a new study has highlighted that the way we may experience Covid-19 may change.

According to NHS Wales, they still list the main symptoms as a high temperature, a new, continuous cough, and a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste.

Now, data published by the ZOE COVID Study app has identified the most common top 5 symptoms positive cases have reported.

Those responsible for the study have also identified that vaccination, and whether you have had one dose or two, can impact your symptoms.

They have said the changing symptoms could be down to the fact that "those who have been vaccinated experience less severe symptoms, as well as more cases being reported by younger people, who we have found experience different, less severe symptoms as well."

What are the main symptoms of Covid-19 if you're fully vaccinated?

The top 5 symptoms reported by the ZOE COVID Study App for fully vaccinated people are:

  1. Headache
  2. Runny nose
  3. Sneezing
  4. Sore throat
  5. Loss of smell

Those double vaccinated still reported the three traditional symptoms, however, a cough appeared as the 8th most popular symptom, and fever at 12th on the list.

What are the main symptoms of Covid-19 if you've only had one vaccine dose?

The top 5 symptoms reported by the ZOE COVID Study App for people with a single vaccine dose were:

  1. Headache
  2. Runny nose
  3. Sore throat
  4. Sneezing
  5. Persistent cough
