Is Robert coming back to Emmerdale? Soap speaks out on return

Emmerdale bosses have spoken out on whether Robert could return to the soap.

Last week, Luke told his mum Wendy that his brother Lee attacked him after he came out as gay.

But when Lee threatened to kill Luke, he pushed him in an attempt to get away.

However, Lee fell over and hit his head, losing consciousness briefly.

Just hours later, Robert hit Lee over the head with a shovel, killing him, after he raped his sister Victoria.

Following Lee's death, Robert was sentenced to 14 years in prison.

But now this new information about Lee's injuries prior to Robert's attack have emerged, Wendy has questioned whether Robert could be set for an early prison release.

Enlisting the help of solicitor Ethan, Wendy attempted to see if Luke's confession could help free Robert.

Following this development, Emmerdale fans predicted that we could see Robert, played by Ryan Hawley, return to the soap.

Courtney said: "Is #emmerdale hinting at a possible Robert return? They can’t be playing with my feelings like this!"

Dan tweeted: "Hope Robert comes back."

And Caitlin added: "I really hope Robert is coming back. Would love to see how he reacts to everything going on with Liv."

But there's some bad news for fans as Emmerdale confirmed Robert would not be making a comeback.

An Emmerdale spokesperson told Digital Spy : "There are no current plans for the character of Robert to return."
