Is QB Jake Locker the biggest Titans draft bust of all time?

The Tennessee Titans have seen their fair share of players fall short of the expectations set in Nashville.

One position the team has particularly struggled with is at quarterback.

While the Titans have been through a slew of failed signal-callers, at first-string and second-string, is there one that stands out above the others as the most significant bust?

According to analyst Doug Farrar of the Touchdown Wire, there indeed is one, and his name is Jake Locker.

“If you lived anywhere near Seattle when Locker was Washington’s quarterback, you knew that the city was full of purple and gold and Locker replica jerseys,” he wrote. The Titans caught the fever, selecting Locker with the eighth overall pick in 2011. But Locker never really caught on in the NFL, seemed to lose his desire for the game, and retired in 2015.”

While there are a number of other names that could have been chosen for this dishonorable spot, there’s no denying Locker will be remembered for coming up short and eventually retiring early.

This is far from Locker’s first time on one of these lists, as he was also  No. 17 on Business Insider’s Cork Gaines’ article on the biggest busts over the past 15 years.
“Locker was originally projected by some as the top pick in the 2010 draft before opting to return to Washington,” he wrote. “A poor senior season didn’t hurt his stock too much as he was still a top-ten pick. He started 23 games in four seasons, but was eventually replaced by a rookie, Zach Mettenberger. Locker retired after the 2014 season, citing a lack of desire to keep playing.”

He played from 2011-2014 in Tennessee, completing 408-of-709 passes for 4,967 yards with 27 touchdowns and 22 interceptions.
