The third season of Ozark on Netflix was definitely the most eventful yet.
We continued the journey of financial advisor Marty Byrde ( Jason Bateman ) and his ambitious wife Wendy ( Laura Linney ) as they launder money for a Mexican drug cartel as they live a new life in the Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri, together.
They have become completely entangled in the dramas of the local drug lords, the Snells, and also the mischievous Langmore clan, headed by the steely young woman Ruth Langmore (Julia Garner), who now works with the Byrdes.
Facing threats from multiple directions in the third run, Wendy was reunited with her brother and also explored how far she wanted to take the Byrde's plans as her ruthlessness reached new heights.
However, considering that fans had to wait two years for a third season after the second was released, will there be a season 4?
Is Ozark cancelled at Netflix?
There has been no confirmation regarding the future of Ozark.
Netflix has not yet cancelled the series following the release of its third season earlier this year.
However, the streaming giant also hasn't confirmed that the series will return for new episodes.
We would be surprised if Netflix cancelled Ozark without it receiving a conclusion, especially as the series is something of an awards darling
The performances of Jason Bateman, Laura Linney, and Julia Garner have all garnered critical acclaim.
Considering the show was renewed for a third run a few months after the second was released, we should be getting an answer anytime now.
How did Ozark season 3 end?
The third run of the acclaimed drama saw the Byrdes meet the Cartel boss Omar Navarro ( Felix Solis ) for the first time.
Having previously dealt with his enforcer Del (Esai Morales) and lawyer Helen Pierce ( Janet McTeer ), Marty and Wendy finally met the big boss but he needed a guarantee of their loyalty.
During the season, Wendy had been reunited with her brother Ben Davis (Tom Pelphrey) who grew close to the Byrde clan and struck up a romance with Ruth.
However, as Ben suffered from bipolar disorder and could not handle the violent world that his sister and her family now inhabited, he soon began to speak a bit too openly about their plans.
To prove their loyalty to Navarro and the cartel, Wendy agreed to hand over Ben to be killed by the cartel, ending the possibility of him ruining their plans.
The brutal decision left fans flabbergasted, but will we see the fallout?
If Ozark does return for season 4, expect a dark period for Wendy.
