Is O2 down? Customers of the mobile network are reporting UK wide issues

Mobile network O2 has hit another technical glitch as users up and down the country report issues.

Customers are mainly experiencing issues when trying to make and receive calls whilst some are also having difficulty with mobile internet.

According to Down Detector, the independent outage monitor, problems with the network at around 8:45am on Friday.

In a statement O2 have said: "Our technical teams are investigating reports of issues when some customers are making and receiving voice calls.

"Data use is not impacted. We apologise for any inconvenience."

They are also advising customers via their Twitter page to check the coverage and network status for their area here where they'll also provide updates.

Many have taken to Twitter to vent their frustrations.

One said: "Oh @O2 really?! Again?!? #O2down"

Another added: "Seriously @O2 network down AGAIN! So inconvenient!!!!! Poor customer service"

A final added: "oh what a surprise @O2 is down again..."

In December, O2 suffered a major network outage affecting 32 million customers around the world.

The fault was then identified as a third party supplier's 'software issue' in their system which interrupted services for O2, Sky, Tesco Mobile and Giffgaff users.
