Newcastle United are continuing theor preparations for their upcoming Premier League campaign with their second friendy against German opposition today. The Magpies will face Mainz 05 this afternoon in the final game of their pre-season camp in Austria.

Eddie Howe's men got their pre-season campaign off to a strong start with a 5-1 behind closed doors win over Gateshead last weekend, and followed that up with a 3-0 win over 1860 Munich on Friday.

And the Newcastle boss will be hoping his side show more of the same when they take on Mainz out in Austria. Here's everything you need to know ahead of this afternoon's pre-season clash.

Who could feature for Newcastle United vs Mainz 05?

Like Friday, it's likely Eddie Howe will use the game to give most of his players a runout. The players who had been on international duty - Bruno Guimaraes, Sven Botman, Miguel Almiron and Chris Wood - played the final half hour against 1860 but could be given a longer spell today.

Matt Ritchie could be involved today after sitting out Friday with a minor knock, while Jamal Lewis will continue to be monitored. Two players who certainly won't feature are Jeff Hendrick and Ciaran Clark, who have joined Championship sides Reading and Sheffield United on loan. Dwight Gayle won't feature either against 1860 Munich as he did not travel with the rest of the Newcastle squad to Austria.
