Is Monday a bank holiday in the UK? Full list of bank holidays for 2022 and 2023

Most Brits will get an extra day off next week as May 2 marks the early May bank holiday.

Every year, the first Monday in May is celebrated as a national holiday across the UK. This year's bank holiday is on Monday, May 2.

After May 2, the next bank holiday will take place on June 2. Bank holidays can fall on different days or dates every year. These are the important dates you need in your diary for 2022 and 2023.

Here are all the dates you need to know:

2022 bank holidays in the UK:

  • May 2nd: Early May bank holiday

  • June 2nd: Spring bank holiday

  • June 3rd: Platinum Jubilee bank holiday

  • August 29th: Summer bank holiday

  • December 26th: Boxing Day

  • December 27th: Christmas Day (substitute day, as December 25th falls on a Sunday)

2023 bank holidays in the UK:

  • January 2 – New Year’s Day (substitute day)
  • March 17 - St. Patrick’s Day (Northern Ireland)
  • April 7 – Good Friday
  • April 10 – Easter Monday
  • May 1 – Early May bank holiday
  • May 29 – Spring bank holiday
  • August 28 – Summer bank holiday
  • November 30 2023 - St. Andrew’s Day (Scotland)
  • December 25 – Christmas Day
  • December 26 – Boxing Day
