It seems as if we've blinked and found ourselves most of the way through summer. The August bank holiday is already upon us, and, shockingly, there's just over a month until September.
Time flies, so you may have not been aware this upcoming Monday, August 1, is a bank holiday in Scotland.
Plus, it's a tad confusing as well - the summer bank holiday is at the end of the month on August 29 for people in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

2022 is already more than halfway over, but there are still four bank holidays left to enjoy - and a couple early in the new year.
- Monday, August 1: Summer bank holiday
- Friday, November 25: St Andrew's Day
- Monday, December 26: Boxing Day
- Tuesday, December 27: Christmas Day (substitute day)
- Monday, January 2, 2023: New Year's Day (substitute day)
- Tuesday, January 3, 2023: January 2 (substitute day)
What is the weather forecast for the August bank holiday?
There's bad news for sun worshippers hoping for another heatwave. The forecast this weekend according to BBC Weather alternates between spells of sunshine and showers whilst Aberdeen could reach 22C or 23C on Saturday,
Sunday will be largely dry and the best of the sunshine will be in the west, meteorologist Gillian Smart says. But on Monday, the Met Office forecasts that more rain will spread northeast on the bank holiday.
