All season, it’s felt like we’ve been hearing scenarios for a fix at the quarterback position for the Washington Football Team that might make sense in the long-run, but leaves fans pulling their hair out in the interim.
The mother of all of those scenarios is being proposed now on the brink of free-agency, with a relatively dry QB market leaving Ron Rivera and his team already parsing through the scrap-heap in the first wave of free-agent signings.
One name that has been boiling up for Washington is Chicago Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky, a former first-round pick who is set to hit free agency on Wednesday.

Ask any Bears fan about Trubsiky and you’ll learn all that you need to know. A four-year career with the Bears left nothing but frustration among the fan-base, as his chaotic up-and-down tenure left him with 64 touchdowns and 37 interceptions, bolstering a 29-21 overall record as a starter. In his last year, he was forced into a QB competition with Nick Foles, and that could portend to what he would be up for if coming to Washington.
There is a belief that Rivera wants a true QB competition in D.C. this summer, and with Taylor Heinicke and Kyle Allen already locked down for the 2021 season, throwing Trubisky into the mix would accomplish that.
If it were to happen, we truly do not know who would come out on top. However, it’s tough to believe that any fan would feel confident with the eventual winner leading them into the 2021 season.
