Is Minecraft Realms down? How to check server status

Minecraft is one of the most played titles in the gaming community, with millions crafting solo adventures or attempting massive builds with friends in Realms.

However, with so many players logging on every day, the game’s servers can sometimes suffer from outages. While players using the Singleplayer mode are unlikely to be affected by this, those playing online in Minecraft Realms can face connection issues to their paid worlds.

If you’re wondering how to check whether Minecraft Realms is down, we’ll help you out.

How do you know if Minecraft Realms is down?

If you’re unable to connect to Minecaft Realms, access your world, and are getting constant errors like the “Realms 502 Bad Gateway” or “whitelist”, it’s possible that the game’s servers are down or facing issues.

Like many other multiplayer and live-service titles, Minecraft servers are under constant load due to the sheer number of players, resulting in server issues. Another reason can be the implementation of a new patch or update. Minecraft is constantly getting new patches—both minor and major updates—and other experimental versions. Any one of these can result in server disruption.

How to check Minecraft Realms server status

Like with many other applications, one of the first places you should check out is Down Detector. A large spike in reports often means that a significant chunk of the Minecraft Realms community is facing issues. Apart from Down Detector being efficient, there isn’t any specific support page for Minecraft or Mojang that keeps track of the game’s server status.

Alternatively, you can check one of the Minecraft social media accounts for news or updates on an outage. The game’s X profile, Facebook page, and official Discord server are great places to refer to whenever you experience issues with Minecraft Realms. You can also check Reddit, as many players often start posting about server issues on the platform.

Finally, you can check for any reported outages related to Microsoft, since they own Mojang. While Microsoft does have a webpage that keeps track of its services, the ones listed there are unlikely to affect Minecraft. Therefore, you’ll still have to rely on Down Detector or check the social media platforms we’ve mentioned above.

What if there are no reports of an outage?

If you can’t find anything about Minecraft Realms server outages on the aforementioned platforms, you may have to check for any issues on your end. Since Minecraft Realms is an online-only game mode, you’ll need to check the stability of your internet connection. Using a wired connection can often fix stability issues, and simply restarting the Minecraft Launcher can also serve as a fix.

Alternatively, you can check out the Minecraft Realms troubleshooting page.
